What Happens At Camp?

Camps are aimed to introduce, instruct, and inspire youth in the art of theatre! We do this by assigning two scenes to each camper that they must memorize, rehearse, and eventually perform. Each day, they break into their scenes accompanied by a director who helps guide them in characterization, blocking, projection, and physicality in order to bring the scene to life with their castmates.

On top of that, we also bring in teachers to give lessons each day on an aspect of acting. We are still determining what our theme for this summer is, but in the past we have done vocalization, characterization, character study, and more.

We also lead them in team building activities and theatre games geared towards improv to help students become more comfortable on stage and with each other.

As a Christian organization, we also lead the camp in a study each day on how to interact with the arts from a Christian worldview/perspective. Last year we did a deep dive into what it means to do something to the glory and honor of God.

The camp covers all of these experiences. We don’t offer lunch, but there is a fridge and a designated lunch time each day where students bring their own food.

The days run from 10:00-3:00 on Monday to Wednesday, 10:00-4:00 on Thursday, and 10:00-9:00 on Friday. Each Friday we close out the camp with a showcase where the students can perform the scenes they’ve been working on all week. This includes light, props, furniture, and costumes. We try to give them full experience.
